Funding changes in BC · 2026–27

Autism Funding is becoming three kinds of support.

Until March 31, 2027, nothing changes. Here is the simple version.

Right now

Does anything change today?

No. Keep using your Autism Funding as usual until March 31, 2027. The Ministry will contact you.

Who qualifies

Two ways into the Disability Benefit

Straight in

Some diagnoses qualify on their own, such as an intellectual disability or Level 3 autism.

  • Intellectual disability (moderate to profound)
  • Autism with an intellectual disability
  • Autism Level 3, or profound autism
  • Down, Angelman and similar syndromes
  • FASD with an intellectual disability
  • Severe self-injurious behaviour
  • Degenerative or palliative conditions
  • Mobility needs like GMFCS 3–5

A review of your reports

Everyone else: the Ministry reads the reports you already have, across eight areas of need. One area can be enough.

Autism without an intellectual disability is not on the direct list. The review decides — and the Supplement and free services still apply.

What might the monthly Supplement be for you?

Children with the Disability Tax Credit

$90,000

No Disability Tax Credit, no Supplement — and no back-pay. Applying takes 10–15 weeks on the current form. It is free to apply; a practitioner may charge for their part, and your travel, training and equipment budget can cover up to $300 of it.

Estimated Supplement

$367a month

about $4,400 a year

$6k$0$200k$400k

Reaches $0 at $200,000 of net income.

The full amount up to $50,000, then $40 a year less for every $1,000 above it — the legislated formula. Under-18s only; shared custody halves it; the CRA pays it. The Province’s own estimator →
